3 Spring Market Trips You Need to Try this Month

Posted April 6, 2021

It’s spring! Get some fresh air and stretch your legs at Pike Place Market! Spring is an extra special time at the Market. Fresh flowers are abundant, daffodils line the Market’s roof, and the sun on your skin as you meander through our nearly 500 small businesses will make you stop and thank Mother Earth.

To help you get the most out of the next few months, we put together three Market Trips. Try one or all this spring.

Don’t forget! Our parking garage connects directly to Pike Place Market. Spend the entire day with us for just $10 when you enter by 9 a.m. and leave by 9 p.m. We have an evening rate too. Learn more!

Early Birds/The Foodies

We all know that the early bird gets the worm, but in this case, the early bird gets first dibs on the best produce and flowers + breakfast & lunch! You’ll also get to see the Market come alive. This Market Trip starts at 8 a.m. and don't forget your shopping bags.

  • Get caffeinated! Head to Ghost Alley Espresso just below Rachel the Piggy Bank in Lower Post Alley. Ghost Alley Espresso is open every day starting at 7 a.m.
  • Resist taking a Gum Wall selfie but instead, find your favorite street art on the Free Wall. Artists like Narboo post thoughtful and humous comics there regularly. You can find stickers of his work at Robot vs. Sloth on First Ave and Pine Street.
  • While at breakfast, plan dinner! Write down all the ingredients you need and divide the list among your companions. Then go shopping! With six produce stands, four fish Markets, four bakeries, a butcher, and specialty stores like DeLaurenti Food & Wine, El Mercado Latino, Uli’s Sausage, and The Souk  -- you are sure to find everything you need for a delicious dinner. (For a list of all our grocery shops, click here.)
  • Before heading out, don’t forget to peruse the Crafts Market and the DownUnder, pick up a bouquet, and grab some Daily Dozen Doughnuts Co. for the road.

Day-Date with Your Sweetie

It’s Saturday, and the sun is shining. Grab your special honey and head to Pike Place Market for a day of delicious food and memories! For this Market Day, come hungry!

  • Next up, the Crafts Market! The Pike Place Crafts Market is one of the largest and most diverse Crafts Market in the country. Plus, everything is handmade and created right here in the PNW. Buy your partner something special they’ll keep forever. Now head to the DownUnder, where you’ll find four art galleries, two bookstores, a record shop, a gem shop, a comic bookstore, and much more! (For a list of all open retail shops, click here)
  • While you’re in the Market’s lower levels, make sure you stop by Orange Dracula and take a photo in their real film photo booth. Fun fact - This famous photo booth was featured on an episode of the Bachelor.
  • Before heading home, make sure you swing by Bottega Italiana for their seasonal gelato and pick up some ingredients for dinner tonight.

Date Night

There’s still plenty to do at Pike Place Market in the evening. After work, grab your date and enjoy the savory side of Pike Place Market. We have an evening parking rate in our garage. Enter after 5 p.m. and exit by 2 a.m. for a flat rate of $5.

  • Meet your date under the Public Market Center Clock & Sign with either a bouquet in hand or let them choose from the dozens of bouquets that line our main arcade. Our farmers start packing up at 4 p.m. Pike Place Flowers is open until 5 p.m.
  • Before heading to happy hour, stop by The Confectional on Pike Place. These delicious mini cheesecakes can be enjoyed now or save until after dinner. The Confectional closes at 6 p.m.
  • Next, grab some Rachel’s Ginger Beer and head to the MarketFront Plaza to watch the sunset. If you want snacks and alcoholic drinks, pop down to Old Stove Brewing Co. They make their beer right here at the Market. They also sell cans and crowlers to-go.
  • After dinner, grab a nightcap at JarrBar on Western Avenue or IL Bistro near the Gum Wall. JarrBarr is open until 11 p.m. IL Bistro has dinner until 10 p.m. and drinks until midnight. If you want to take in a few laughs, head to Unexpected Productions right outside the Gum Wall. They have live shows Wednesday and Friday nights. Learn more.
