After Dark: Meet the Can Can Kitchen & Cabaret

Posted August 7, 2015

Most visitors to Pike Place Market depart as the craft vendors and farmers and flower sellers pack up for the day. But after sun down, there's still plenty to do at the market, including catching a show the Can Can Kitchen & Cabaret.

This subterranean theater and bar/restaurant feels like vintage Seattle, a throwback to a time when speakeasies and jazz clubs were the norm. You'll find the Can Can in a cave-like space beneath the Corner Market, where, five nights a week, burlesque shows entertain a packed room and, in an impossibly small kitchen, some of the best food in the city is quietly being crafted.

The electrifying performers seem to dangle and twirl just inches from the audience in this intimate setting. And servers somehow maneuver around the room to serve an outstanding menu with items like salmon sliders and seared scallops. You can pair the meal with drinks from the equally outstanding Absinthe & Craft Cocktail Bar, just beyond the ticket booth.

The Can Can rotates its cabaret shows seasonally, with shows running for several months at a time. The insanely talented troupe of five is currently performing FLAMINGO, Inspired by some of  summer hits such as Cry Baby,‎ Grease, and Hairspray. Ticket information is available here.
