Herbaceous Mixed Nuts
Fast and fabulous snack to serve at your own gathering or to package for gift-giving. Mix and match the nuts according to your taste, and make a day or two in advance. Serve with a bitter drink such as a Negroni.
On a baking sheet big enough to hold the nuts in a single layer, toast 4 oz walnut halves, 4 oz pecan halves, 4 oz hazelnut halves and 2 oz pine nuts forabout 10 minutes in a preheated 350-degree oven until fragrant (watching closely so they don't burn). In a large mixing bowl, stir together 2 Tbsp melted butter, 1 Tbsp minced fresh rosemary, 1 Tbsp maple syrup, 2 tsp brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Add the hot nuts and gently stir to coat with the butter. The nuts are best served slightly warm, and can be reheated. If making ahead, store in a sealed container.
