Pike Place Market Celebrates Proclamation Day

On November 2, 2021, Pike Place Market celebrated the Proclamation Day of the Keep the Market vote.

50 years ago (on November 2, 1971), Seattle citizens voted YES to keep Pike Place Market after nearly a decade-long battle to raze the Market and revitalize the area. Read more about the fight and the Market advocates who helped save the Market!

At Tuesday’s celebration, we were joined by Deputy Mayor Tiffany Washington, Executive Dow Constantine, Councilmember Andrew Lewis, Friends of the Market board members to celebrate the incredible work done by the Friends of the Market and Seattle voters.
